The Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, on Monday, conducted Ward Delegates Congress across the 192 wards in the 18 local governments to elect five delegates each from the wards.
Sunrise reports that the State Acting Chairman of the party, Jarrett Tenebe, disclosed this at a press conference in Benin City.
Tenebe said the ward delegates congress was in line with the electoral act as amended.
He said the five delegates were made up of three males and two females.
He added that a total of 960 delegates were elected across the state.
The acting chairman explained that the ward delegates would affirm the outcome of the conduct of the direct governorship primary.
“In line with the time table released by National Secretariat of the party, the party did the membership revalidation between February 10 and 11, 2024.
“And today, in continuation of the party’s desire to ensure actions that ultimately deepen internal democracy, has deployed men resources to 18 local government of the state for the conduct of the ward delegates congress, the delegates that shall affirmed the results of the Direct Primaries.
“The party, therefore assured all the 12 aspirants that a level playing ground shall be provided for them with a view to ensuring a rancuor-free primaries.
“The party has not endorsed any of the aspirants that have been cleared by the committee setup by the NWC neither has it given any of its organ(s), person(s) or group to do so on its behalf”, he said.
He, however, enjoined party faithful to remain committed to the ideals of the party.
