Egba to use Lisabi Day festival to fight yahoo yahoo

The 36th edition of Lisabi Day Festival has been scheduled to hold between 13-19 February, 2023, and aimed to fight yahoo yahoo and other social vices established to be in vogue among the Nigerian youths.

The Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo made this known at a press conference held at Ake Palace in Abeokuta, stressing that the ceremony is majorly for the development, upliftment of the richly endowed Egba heritage

He  said this year’s celebration is with the theme, ’Promoting  Parental Responsibility as a Panacea Towards Better Children and Youths Development in Egbaland’, which has been painstakingly designed and planned to leverage on where applicable and mainly surpass the successes achieved at past editions of the festival

The traditional ruler explained that the festival will as well used to showcase the richness of Egba culture, tradition and bring together sons and daughters of the town, irrespective of social political and religious leanings

Gbadebo disclosed that the planning committee resolved to hold the ceremony before the general elections, so that it will not clash with the period of the poll, adding that it will also create avenue for the exposure of qualitative investors and tourist locally and internationally

‘You would all agree with me that it is a globally acknowledged fact that we the Egbas have a unique and richly endowed culture, tradition and history which over decades have evolved and attracted global attraction, acceptable and appreciation’, he stated

He disclosed that the Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun  would grace the grand finale of the occasion as the Special Guest of Honour ,adding that a robust hospitality, adequate security and warm reception await guests and visitors

Gbadebo  highlighted number of activities for the events which include procession to Igbo Lisabi, stop over at Itoku cenotaph by Alake and his entourage, visit to Olumo rock,jumat service and Christian thanksgiving service Meanwhile, other programmes include youth squash academy tournament, Woro dance, homage by Egba chiefs, clubs and association, as well as presentation of bursary awards, youth concert and display of Oro
