SUNRISE NEWS, Lagos, Aug 27, 2020 The Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA) as part of its efforts to sensitize Lagos residents especially the Lagos State Health Scheme (LSHS) enrolllees on access to healthcare via EKOTELED, has commenced road tour throughout the State.
The General Manager, Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA), Dr. Emmanuella Zamba, who said this during the flag-off of the road tour in Ikeja, added that the tour would enable LASHMA to properly inform, educate and enlighten residents of the state on the benefit to be derived by enrolling on the Lagos State Health Scheme (LSHS).
Dr. Zamba said any resident who enroll on the Scheme also has the opportunity to access care through EKOTELEMED via audio or video call from the comfort of their homes or offices without going to the hospital.
She said that LSHS Enrollees through EKOTELEMED, now have access to highly trained and experienced medical doctors 24/7 in any of the four main languages in the State – English, Yoruba, Hausa and Igbo.
The General Manager said that with EKOTELED, there is a guarantee of immediate, easy, accessible and affordable healthcare to Lagos residents as they are free to speak to medical personnel from wherever they are via a toll free line 08000-EKOMED (08000356633).
The road tour throughout the 57 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) according to her, is expected to bring information closer to Lagos residents especially those at the grassroots and stimulate their interest in enrolling on the Lagos State Health Scheme.
Commending Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for graciously approving EKOTELEMED platform for LSHS Enrollees, she said that the approval of the use of EKOTELEMED has further demonstrated Mr. Governor’s commitment to accessible and affordable healthcare to the residents in the State
She appealed to residents in the State who are yet to enrol on the Scheme to do so immediately in order to enjoy the benefits and opportunities in the Scheme.
The Business Development Manager, Health Connect 24/7, Mrs Julian Michaels, who lauded the Lagos State Government for the good gesture said that Health Connect 24/7 would continue to partner with the Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA) to ensure that Lagos residents are provided with good and quality healthcare services through EKOTELEMED.
She said that after consultation with patients, EKOTELEMED also monitor patients to see that they are responding to treatment.
During COVID-19 pandemic in the State, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu launched EKO-TELEMED to deliver remote Non-COVID care for residents in the State on Wednesday, 22nd April, 2020 in order to protect the citizens including medical personnel from contracting the virus.
