Elijah And The Falling Fire

Sam Adeoye

By Sam Adeoye

This article came about as a result of so many comments going on, on Social Media regarding Pastor Abel Damina saying that the fire Prophet Elijah called down from did not come from God but from Satan.

Before I say anything further on this, let me make it clear that:

a. I don’t know Pastor Abel Damina on a one on one basis.

b. I don’t have in relationship or association with him or his ministry.

c. I don’t listen to his messages.

d. I’d never been to his church or attend any of his programmes.

e. This article is not in any way to support his ideology or theology. This article is to clear some of the things I believe the church and the Christian folks are not aware of and to set the records straight.

Some of the things you will read in this article are not for baby Christians. So, if you are not mature enough in faith, I suggest you stop reading now and find something else meaningful to do with your time because this is a strong meat meant for the adults not babies.

Some of the leaders in the church cannot deny what I’m about to share. But at the same time, they dare not teach it in the church or in any of their gatherings because they know what the side effect will be.

Due to this simple facts, they’ll rather keep the people in ignorance than to let them lose and the path suitable for their lives.

I’m very sure that the majority of the people in the world know about the four Human Elements namely the Air, Water, Fire and Earth. And to some extent the church leaders had made us to believe that those things are not true or they are demonic or satanic whichever way they sees it fit to present it to us. But the truth is, that is not true.

Every Human Being in the world is made of spirits, different people with different spirits and these spirits are ether Air, Water, Fire and Earth. Individuals that with the Water Spirit are easier to identify and named as evil, Mammi Water, Ogbanje, Emere and all kinds of names. But that is not true.

Spirits are either positive or negative. Spirits are neutral. Spirit metamorphoses into the content of your heart. And every spirit dwells in the presence of the Lord. In 2 Chron 18:19-21, the Lord said, ‘Who will persuade Ahab king of Israel to go up, that he may fall at Ramoth Gilead?’ So one spoke in this manner, and another spoke in that manner. Then a spirit came forward and stood before the Lord, and said, ‘I will persuade him.’ The Lord said to him, ‘In what way?’ So he said, ‘I will go out and be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.’ And the Lord said, ‘You shall persuade him and also prevail; go out and do so.’

The spirit was not a lying spirit. The spirit was neutral. But the moment God purposed in His heart to destroy Ahab, the spirit decided to metamorphose from been neutral to being a lying spirit so that the purpose in the heart of God can become a reality. So also is the spirit of every Human being on Earth. No

Human spirit is good or evil. It is the content of your heart that determines the nature of your spirit.

That is why it was said in Proverbs 4:23 that you should; “keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.”

Your heart is potent enough to make a whole mess of your life and destiny; and once your heart corrupts your spirit, your spirit takes hold of your body and all your intellect abilities will be infected until you’re totally destroyed.

The beginning and the end of every Human being is their heart. Once the heart is messed up, that’s the end.

And know you’re religious person and the next thing in your heart is, my heart is not my beginning and end, God is my beginning and my end. Well, you can only be right with that if you are fulfilling the words of Jesus Christ in Matthew 22:37-39 where He said; “you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbour as yourself.” If you are far from this, then your heart remains your beginning and your end. My advice to you, “keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.”

Haven said all these; let me make it clear to you that whatever spirit you possessed be it the Air, Water, Fire and Earth the spirit are not evil and the Satan, Devils or Demons are not in possession of you or your spirit. The spirit is from the Lord and this was made clear in Numbers 16:22 when the Children of Israel fell on their faces, and said, “O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh”. The same was repeated in Numbers 27:16 when Moses said; “may the Lord, the God of the spirits of all mankind, appoint a man over this community”.

Without your spirit which could either be the Air, Water, Fire and Earth; and the Bible referred to as the spirit of man and Prophet Zechariah describe in Zechariah 12:1 as the spirit that God formed within Himself, saying “thus says the Lord, who stretches out the heavens, lays the foundation of the earth, and forms the spirit of man within him” there can be no manifestation of the Holy Spirit in your life.

The major duty of the Holy Spirit is to transform your spirit and this was exactly what Apostle Paul was saying in Romans 12:2 that; “be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Another CJB translation says; “keep letting yourselves be transformed by the renewing of your minds; so that you will know what God wants and will agree that what he wants is good, satisfying and able to succeed. I love the way AMP translation drives it home saying; “but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].”

This transformation is a collaboration work. You cannot do alone all by yourself; neither can the Holy Spirit do it without your permission and submission to his will. Until the Holy Spirit takes preeminent in your life God cannot and will not speak to you or with you. And once the Holy Spirit depart from you, God will never speak to you again because the Holy Spirit is God’s own Spirit and a spirit can only communicate with a spirit. That is why King David said in Psalm 42:7 that; “deep calls unto deep at the noise of Your waterfalls”. Because he knew he can only hear from God when his spirit is connected to God’s Spirit. And in Psalm 51:10-11 King David pleaded with God saying; “create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.”

To connect with God, your own spirit must be alive and connect with the Holy Spirit which is the Spirit of God.

I know the question in your heart and mind is where the Four Human elements located in the Bible are? Well, they’re in Genesis.

Reading Genesis 1:1-19 you’ll see all the elements there.

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. So the evening and the morning were the first day.

Then God said, “Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.” Thus God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament; and it was so. And God called the firmament Heaven.

So the evening and the morning were the second day.

Then God said, “Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear”; and it was so. And God called the dry land Earth, and the gathering together of the waters He called Seas. And God saw that it was good. Here we have the Water and the Earth spirit.

Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb that yields seed, and the fruit tree that yields fruit according to its kind, whose seed is in itself, on the earth”; and it was so. 12 And the earth brought forth grass, the herb that yields seed according to its kind, and the tree that yields fruit, whose seed is in itself according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. So the evening and the morning were the third day.

Then God said, “Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years; and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth”; and it was so. Then God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He made the stars also. God set them in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth, and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good. So the evening and the morning were

the fourth day. Here we have the Air and the Fire.

I’m sure you’ll be wondering but the bible did not make mentioned of fire here now. True it does not.

But the word light in that context also means fire. And if you think it’s not so, put your hand on the light that illuminate your house and let’s see what will happen to you.

These for Human elements were spoken into existence by God Himself. Words are spirits. When God said “let there be” a spirit from the Lord goes into action and make that thing happen immediately. For us to understand how powerful the word of God is and even our own words, Jesus Christ said in John 6:63; “it is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.” The words are first spirit and then they are life. For the word to metamorphose from spirit to life, they have to possess a body and in John 1:14 The Message Bible version it was said that; “the Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighborhood.”

Every Human being on the Earth possesses these Four Elements and it doesn’t matter whether you believe it or not. And Prophet Elijah knew this facts and how to make use of them.

Now, for those who might not know, let’s establish some facts about Elijah

a. Prophet Elijah was not a Christian.

b. Prophet Elijah does not know who Jesus Christ is and he never made mentioned of him.

c. Prophet Elijah is from Gilead which means “heap of stones of testimony”.

d. The name Elijah means “Yahweh is my God”.

e. Nothing was known about his background just like Melchizedek.

f. There was no record of his calling to the service of God.

g. No record of him serving under anyone like Prophet Samuel.

h. He is a man that loved to be feared and worshipped by men.

i. He was never a humble man.

j. He is a man that likes to show off.

In 1 Kings 18:7-8 it was said that; “now as Obadiah was on his way, suddenly Elijah met him; and he recognised him, and fell on his face, and said, “Is that you, my lord Elijah?” And he answered him, “It is I. Go, tell your master, ‘Elijah is here.'”

There are so many things that are not right about Prophet Elijah but those are not my focus at the moment. We’ll get to those things later on in the near future. But it was evidence to all that he was passionate of God and about the things of God. But to my best knowledge, he had a faulty foundation.

Most of the things about him are very aggressive and confrontational. He was a man that loved to fight for God rather than God fighting for him. Such individuals I called eyes service people.

In the days of Prophet Elijah, education and religion was nowhere to be found and if they exist; they are not very common as it is in our day. People spend lots of time discovering who they are and how to make use of their potentials. Something majority of us lack now. Our ideal of who we are is either what our religion told us or what our educational backgrounds made us to be believe that we are. And this is one thing that is killing many potential from being actualized and many dreams and visions from becoming a reality.

Prophet Elijah knew what many do not know in his days and many still don’t know even in this dispensation. In 1 Kings 18:20-39 it was said that; “so Ahab sent for all the children of Israel, and gathered the prophets together on Mount Carmel. And Elijah came to all the people, and said, “How long will you falter between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him.” But the people answered him not a word. Then Elijah said to the people, “I alone am left a prophet of the Lord; but Baal’s prophets are four hundred and fifty men. Therefore let them give us two bulls; and let them choose one bull for themselves, cut it in pieces, and lay it on the wood, but put no fire under it; and I will prepare the other bull, and lay it on the wood, but put no fire under it. Then you call on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of the Lord; and the God who answers by fire, He is God.” So all the people answered and said, “It is well spoken.”

Now Elijah said to the prophets of Baal, “Choose one bull for yourselves and prepare it first, for you are many; and call on the name of your god, but put no fire under it.” So they took the bull which was given them, and they prepared it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even till noon, saying, “O Baal, hear us!” But there was no voice; no one answered. Then they leaped about the altar which they had made. And so it was, at noon, that Elijah mocked them and said, “Cry aloud, for he is a god; either he is meditating, or he is busy, or he is on a journey, or perhaps he is sleeping and must be awakened.” So they cried aloud, and cut themselves, as was their custom, with knives and lances, until the blood gushed out on them. And when midday was past, they prophesied until the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice. But there was no voice; no one answered, no one paid attention.

Then Elijah said to all the people, “Come near to me.” So all the people came near to him. And he repaired the altar of the Lord that was broken down. And Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, to whom the word of the Lord had come, saying, “Israel shall be your name.” Then with the stones he built an altar in the name of the Lord; and he made a trench around the altar large enough to hold two seahs of seed. And he put the wood in order, cut the bull in pieces, and laid it on the wood, and said, “Fill four water pots with water, and pour it on the burnt sacrifice and on the wood.” Then he said, “Do it a second time,” and they did it a second time; and he said, “Do it a third time,” and they did it a third time. So the water ran all around the altar; and he also filled the trench with water.

And it came to pass, at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near and said, “Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day that You are God in Israel and I am Your servant, and that I have done all these things at Your word. Hear me, O Lord, hear me, that this people may know that You are the Lord God, and that You have turned their hearts back to You again.” Then the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood and the stones and the dust, and it licked up the water that was in the trench. Now when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces; and they said, “The Lord, He is God! The Lord, He is God!”

Let’s examine Elijah’s strategies

a. Elijah said to all the people, “Come near to me.” So all the people came near to him.

b. Elijah repaired the altar of the Lord that was broken down.

c. Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, to whom the word of the Lord had come, saying, “Israel shall be your name.”

d. Elijah built an altar in the name of the Lord with the stones

e. Elijah made a trench (drain) around the altar large

f. Elijah put the wood in order

g. Elijah cut the bull in pieces

h. Elijah laid the cut bull on the wood

i. Elijah said, “Fill four water pots with water, and pour it on the burnt sacrifice and on the wood.

j. Elijah said, “Do it a second time,” and they did it a second time; and he said, “Do it a third time,” and they did it a third time. So the water ran all around the altar; and he also filled the trench with

water.

If you pay attention to the listed points above you’ll see that the Two Elements out of the Four Elements are already in place. Earth and the Water; and Prophet Elijah had gone a step further; he told them to

pour the water three times which signifies, God the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. It also means Morning, Afternoon and Night, the three key seasons in the life of every Human being.

Now, after doing all that, Elijah left everything untouched until evening and the Bible says; “at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near and said, “Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day that You are God in Israel and I am Your servant, and that I have done all these things at Your word. Hear me, O Lord, hear me, that this people may know that You are the Lord God, and that You have turned their hearts back to You again.” Then the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood and the stones and the dust, and it licked up

the water that was in the trench. Now when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces; and they said, “The Lord, He is God! The Lord, He is God!”

At this point the other Two Elements took their place; the Air and the Fire.

Reading this one can easily concluded that the fire is from the Lord just as it was said in Leviticus 10:2 that; “so fire went out from the Lord and devoured them”. But the truth is, that fire did not come from the Lord, what Elijah did was to ignite the power of the Four Elements in creation to prove the existence of God.

Please pay attention to the prayers of Elijah again; “Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day that You are God in Israel and I am Your servant, and that I have done all these things at Your word. Hear me, O Lord, hear me, that this people may know that You are the Lord God, and that

You have turned their hearts back to You again.”

Now, if truly Elijah had done all these things at the word of the Lord, why then did God rejected me as Prophet and asked him to go and anoint Elisha in his place? To my own understanding, if you do something in honour of your leader, your leader supposed to promote you and not sack you. So also, if you do a thing based on the word of the Lord to you, God supposed to promote you not demote you.

But in this case, it was another way round.

In 1 Kings 19:11-14 it was said that; “then God said, “Go out, and stand on the mountain before the Lord.” And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake; and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice. So it was, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle and went out and stood in the entrance of the cave. Suddenly a voice came to him, and said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” And he said, “I have been very zealous for the Lord God of hosts; because the children of Israel have forsaken Your covenant, torn down Your altars, and killed Your prophets with the sword. I alone am left; and they seek to take my life.”

Now, rather than God responding to his claims, God said in 1 Kings 19:15-16 to him: “go, return on your way to the Wilderness of Damascus; and when you arrive, anoint Hazael as king over Syria. Also you shall anoint Jehu the son of Nimshi as king over Israel. And Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abel Meholah you shall anoint as prophet in your place.”

If the fire that fell was from God and if what Elijah did was done based on the word of the Lord then it will be unjust for God to punish him by replacing him with Elisha. But still we know that God is not unjust as it was said in Hebrews 6:10 that; “for God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name”.

So, for God to demote him, it means that all he did, he did in the flesh not in the spirit.

There are so many things you can make happen in life if you have the  knowledge of who you are and how God had made you. The only difference between you and God is that God is invisible, you are not.

Every other thing that made God to be God, you possess. The reason why you are not manifesting the god side of you is because of the contents of your heart and the religion you embrace above your love for God and humanity.

Thank you
