A former Lagos State Commissioner for Rural Development Hon. Lanre Balogun has canvassed for the reintroduction of recreational curricula in secondary education system in Nigeria.

Balogun who was Commissioner between 2003/2011 disclosed this on Sunday during the 50th anniversary celebration of Molusi College, Ijebu Igbo, Ogun State, Class of 1970/74 which held at the Marcopolo Oriental Cuisine, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos.

He said time should be allocated in the school curriculum for students to relax and recreate, adding that all work and no play makes the students dysfunctional.

Balogun who was a member of the set, said his former colleagues should praise God who has kept them alive, as according to him, no fewer than 41 old students of the school had died.

He said Molusi College, Ijebu Igbo is worth celebrating as it has continued to record landmark achievements as a great citadel of education in the country.

Another old student of the school and Chairman of the occasion, Prof. Ayo Ogunye (rtd), a Professor of Chemical Engineering at the University of Lagos, Akoka, described Molusi College as a non discriminatory school. He said the country would soar high if we all bury our tribal or ethnic differences and think first as a Nigerian and work together as one without segregation or ethno-tribal sentiments or allegiance.

He stated further that the contributions of the founding fathers of the college would not be forgotten in the annals of Molusi College because the highest of the founders had Standard 2 in those days and they had mounted a lot of pressure on the indigenes of the town to contribute towards the establishment of the school.

He said then, Molusi College was a pride to all Ijebu Igbo people who hitherto, had to trek long distances to Ijebu Ode to attend secondary school.

He said he is proud today that Molusi College has produced over 100 professors, and uncountable numbers of Medical Doctors among other noble fields of endeavours.

The Global Alumni President of Molusi College,Wole Kukoyi expressed his joy for being among the celebrators and revealed that the set would not relent to execute their projects for their alma mater, whether the government has taken over the college or not. He said for 3 years now work has been ongoing on the school Library.

Others in attendance were the former Director of News in Lagos Television, Ago Agbesanwa the MC, SAN Bonajo Badejo, Dr.Caleb Kolawole and the Vice president Yemisi Marino.
