The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi on Tuesday described the End SARS protest in Nigeria as a lesson to the Federal and State governments.
The monarch charged President Muhammadu Buhari and state Governors to come up with ideas that would bring government closer to it’s people
Ooni stated this while speaking at the emergency meeting of the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria.
“It is very important for that gap to be bridged so that issues, experience in Nigeria recently will not reoccur. It is a lesson for every one of us and we must all work together to better the lots of the youths in this country,’’ Ogunwusi said.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, sympathized with monarchs, businesses, and individuals who lost properties to looting.
Mustapha in his statement disclosed that the Buhari administration awaits their recommendations so as to be included in measures put in place by the government.
The SGF further stated that the closeness of the monarchs to their people will help them share ideas that reflect the desires of Nigerians.
“I urge you to include as part of your agenda for this meeting, discussions on the various challenges facing our nation and in particular, generate ideas and solutions to the consequences and lessons from the recent protests by the Nigerian youths”, he said
The Abuja meeting was attended by the Chairmen of 36 States Traditional Councils of Chiefs, including the Federal Capital Territory
