Chelsea’s new recruit, Kalidou Koulibaly has revealed how former Chelsea captain, John Terry hung up the phone on him when he called the Chelsea legend to enquire about No.26 shirt.
DAILY POST reported that Terry later handed the Senegalese the No.26 jersey and charged him to win trophies with the West London club.
But before then, the Africa Cup of Nations winner said the England legend had dropped the call, thinking it was a joke from someone else pretending to be Koulibaly.
Terry used the No.26 throughout his 19-year career at Stamford Bridge, captaining the Blues to Premier League titles, five FA Cups, and a Champions League triumph.
The shirt has not been used by any Chelsea player since 2017 when Terry left the club, but Koulibaly opted for it, having worn the same in Napoli.
The Senegal International said he got Terry’s contact from another club legend Franco Zola “and I called him – but at the beginning, he did not believe that it was me! He thought that it was a joke!”
“So he put down the phone at first and called the team manager to ask if it was really me,” the highly rated defender told Chelsea media.
