Liverpool manager, Arne Slot, on Tuesday, made a joke about the 115 charges levelled at Manchester City while discussing Mohamed Salah’s future.
Salah is into the final six months of his current contract with the Reds.
After scoring and assisting in their 2-0 victory over City on Sunday, the 32-year-old admitted that it was likely to be his final match against Pep Guardiola’s side at Anfield.
Slot was asked about the comments ahead of their trip to Newcastle United.
The Dutchman replied: “Maybe Mo knows more about the 115 accusations, so he expects them not to be in the Premier League next season.”
But Slot quickly added: “It was a joke – I repeat, it was a joke!”
City remain locked in a legal battle with the Premier League over their 115 alleged financial breaches, all of which they deny.
The case is unlikely to reach a conclusion until late 2025 if any appeals are launched against the final verdict.
