Ex Kaduna Deputy Speaker tests positive for COVID-19

SUNRISE NEWS, Kaduna, July 21, 2020 Former Deputy Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly and member representing Kagarko Constituency, Hon. Nuhu Shadalafiya, has tested positive for Coronavirus.

Shadalafiya who disclosed his status on Tuesday said, he has since been moved to isolation centre and solicited for prayer for his quick recovery.

The lawmaker in a press statement disclosed further that, his sample and those of his wife, aide, and brother were taken on Friday, July 17 by health officials from Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC). But, while his result returned positive on Sunday, July 19, that of his wife, brother, and aide returned negative.

According to the statement, “I was immediately moved to the COVID-19 isolation centre, where I am presently receiving treatment. I am stable and on medication.

He however called on his constituents to ensure they comply with protocols and guidelines aimed at curbing the spread of Covid-19 pandemic.

“I have responsibilities as your elected representative to inform and urge you all to please obey the protocol on COVID-19 protection measures by observing, social distancing, wear face marks, washing of hands regularly with soap and water or use hand sanitiser or stay home if you have no reason to go out and stay safe.

“Let us support His Excellency’s (Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s) efforts in this direction and we have a hitch-free Corona Sallah celebration.

“Please pray for me and others at the centre for a speedy recovery,” he appealed.
