Excitement as Oyetola presents Staff of Office to HRH Joseph Olubiyi Toriola + (Photos)

The ancient town of Modakeke, in Ife East LCDA of Osun State was agog Friday, as the Basorun of Oyo Kingdom crowned Oba Joseph Olubiyi Toriola as the new Ogunsua of Modakeke.

The occasion was witnessed by a galaxy of personalities among who were the Executive Governor of Osun State Gboyega Oyetola, the Ooni of Ife Oba Babatunde Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, and other eminent indigenes and friends of the town.

Presenting the new King with the instruments of power, which is the certificate of recognition by the state government and the Staff of office, Governor Oyetola extolled the industry of the new King, even as he congratulated him for getting on the historic throne.

Oyetola urged the new King to promote peaceful co-existence with his neighbours and to foster unity of his subjects. The governor commended the efforts of the Kingmakers and he entire community for allowing a peaceful transition to reign throughout the selection process for the new King of the town.

Oyetola later proclaimed Toriola as the new King of the town, and urged the people to work with him for the interest and peace of the town, the state and the country as a whole.

Also speaking, Oba Ogunwusi urged the new monarch to use his wide connections and contacts to attract developments to the town and create opportunities for gainful employment especially for the youths of both Ife and Modakeke.

He urged all indigenes of the ancient town to rally round the new King in order to ensure that his reign becomes remarkable. While affirming that both Ife and Modakeke are one and indivisible, the Ooni prayed for peaceful coexistence among the two communities, Osun State and Nigeria.
