A secondary school teacher at Elihans College, Ikorodu, Mr Emmanuel (surname withheld) had allegedly caned a student, Boluwatife Omolaja, to death.
According to his senior brother, who published the development on his Facebook Timeline on Saturday, Boluwatife was a victim of teacher’s brutality as he was allegedly beaten to death on Thursday, November 26, for his failure to answer a Mathematics question correctly.
He said it is baffling that the school has been covering up for the teacher, who they claimed did not beat Boluwatife.
He further added that the family demands a full investigation into the circumstances leading to the death of their son, and the arrest of the teacher, Mr Emmanuel, who he alleged had escaped since the incident happened on Thursday.
“We demand justice for Boluwatife. The police should conduct a full investigation into the cause of death and punish the teacher if he is indeed culpable in the death of the young boy.
He stated: “His teacher, Emmanuel, who has been on the run since Thursday, had allegedly beaten up my brother Boluwatife Omolaja to death on 26th of November, in the school premises because he couldn’t answer a Mathematics question he was asked correctly.
“The school initially made us believed he slumped and died, while he was trying to answer the question on the board. The boy wasn’t ill or showed any sign of sickness before the incident.
“Boluwatife was brought home dead in the school’s bus by the proprietress and principal, along with Mr Emmauel, whom we didn’t know was the killer at that time, and he was buried few hours later, according to Muslim’s doctrine.
“Meanwhile, Bolu’s other brother, Lateef Omolaja was prevented from leaving the school premises, in order to prevent him from spreading the true news to us at home and to buy Mr Emmauel more time to escape.
“We believed the cock and bull story the school fed us, until Lafeef got home at around 5pm and narrated what really happened at the school to us. We also confirmed this from other students of the school including Boluwatife’s classmates.
“The painful part is, the school keeps trying to cover up for Mr Emmanuel claiming he didn’t beat Bolu. Mr Emmanuel is on the run.
“I know no amount of punishment for him will bring back my brother but I just want Mr Emma located and justice served,” he further added.
