Family of Slain Vigilante Olatoye Seeks Justice Amidst Fear

The family of Olatoye Olakanmi Oshungboye, who tragically lost his life to suspected cultists on February 4, 2024, in Ishabo, Abeokuta, Ogun State, is demanding justice from the State Security Department.

Olatoye, a dedicated member of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) and the Odua People’s Congress (OPC), was fatally attacked while returning home from duty.

In a heartfelt plea for justice, a family spokesperson, who requested anonymity, emphasized the urgency of apprehending and prosecuting the perpetrators. They stated, “We want the perpetrators arrested and prosecuted to face the full wrath of the law if found guilty.”

Highlighting the impact of Olatoye’s death on local security personnel, the spokesperson revealed, “Some colleagues of the deceased, fearing for their lives, have run away without informing their families of their whereabouts.”

Since the death of the deceased, no justice to date. The family’s call for justice underscores broader concerns about the safety of security personnel in the region. As they await legal recourse, they remain steadfast in their quest for accountability, seeking closure for Olatoye’s untimely death and assurance for the safety of others in similar roles.
