Family petitions Ogun Police over land grabbing

Members of the Molomo family, under the leadership of Mr. Moses Olayemi of Elewa Village, Orelope Community Development Area, along Igboora Road, Abeokuta, Ogun state, have petitioned the Ogun state Police Commissioner, CP, Bashir Makama to save their lives and properties from people encroaching on their land.

Members of the family, in a petition signed by Mr. Moses Olayemi said, “Some people who claim to be members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), led by its Ita-Oshin Chairman, Alhaji Akeem Bodunrin (a.k.a; Iyeru) have been illegally occupying and allocating our lands to individuals, families and corporate bodies.”

The family said that all efforts made to stop them from this illegality were proved abortive, as the lands has exercised various acts of ownership over the land and was in exclusive and uninterrupted possession of the said large expanse of the land since time immemorial. 

The petition further revealed that; “the parts of the land registered via our family surveyor, Alhaji Bashiru Durowoju via two registered survey plan: DAA/OG/96/131 and DAA/OG/98/128, which the remaining land remained unsurvey till date due to financial constraints and challenges.

It also indicated that sometimes in 2005, one, Alfa Kamoru (one of their in-laws), fraudulently took the registered survey plan in respect of the land from Mrs. Saratu Akanni, under the pressure of marketing the parcel of land to prospective buyers. 

It indicated further that, since a copy of survey plan was surreptitiously collected from the family by Alfa Kamoru in connivance with Bodunrin and others, have been illegally selling the lands, disturbing families that have legal assignment of the property, threatening to kill who so dare them, they also resulted into destruction of people’s properties and extortion of people that works on their land.

Others members who were forcefully took over the possession of the aforementioned lands, which tagged as land grabbing syndicates including ; Keshinro Monsuru, Saheed Olalekan, a claimed Iyeru’s Brother, Shadow, Ogun, Baba Ife, Kazeem Adekunle, a.k.a Vice and one Mrs. Adekunle Afusat Alake, (Iya Kabiru), who works as the syndicate informant.

The petitioner urged the Commissioner of Police, CP, Makama and other security agents to invite Akeem Iyeru to account for his recalcitrant act to the Molomo family and assigned land owners who have enjoyed quiet possession of their land until he and his syndicate started harassing them since 2018.

 “We call on the government and other security agents to save us from these people as well as nullify the purported grabbing of our lands allocations which have all been done without due process. We also advise all those who allegedly acquired our family land through this illegality to vacate same as this land, being our sole property, will be fully protected within the ambits of the law.”
