The Nigerian government has announced that the minimum wage will be reassessed every two years rather than five.
Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, Minister of State for Labour and Employment, confirmed this on Thursday in Abia State.
According to her, the minimum review timetable is consistent with President Bola Tinubu’s promise to Nigerian workers that the minimum salary will be reviewed after three years.
“We are not going to allow minimum wage review to be forever.
“It used to be about five years, but now, in three years’ time, which is less than two years, we will also review the minimum wage,” Onyejeocha said.
