The Federal Ministry of Education (FME) has extended the resumption date of academic activities for the 112 Federal Government Colleges to January 12, 2025.
Students of the Federal Government Colleges are currently at home for the Christmas and New Year break.
In a circular to principals of the Federal Unity Colleges dated December 30, 2024 and signed by the Permanent Secretary of FME, Dr. Nasir Sani-Gwarzo, said the Minister of State for Education, Dr. Suwaiba Ahmad, approved the extension of the resumption date for the second term of 2024/2025 academic session from January 5th to Sunday, January 12, 2025.
Dr. Sani-Gwarzo disclosed that the extension is as a result of the on-going renovation works in most of the Federal Unity Colleges nationwide.
Daily Sun learnt that management of Kings College, Lagos, has not released breakdown for resumption of its students.
A parent of Kings College told Daily Sun that normally SS 111 students preparing for WASSCE, NECO, NABTEB and UTME resume first and that there is no circular from the school to that effect.
Some of the parents in Federal Government Colleges are confused following speculation that the ministry has reverted the resumption date to January 5.
But when our Correspondent demanded for the circular, nor of the parents could provide the new memo for the Federal Ministry of Education.
Currently, parents are busy paying the mandatory fee of N58,000 through the various school portals. SS 111 students at Kings College are to pay N58, 000.
The breakdown includes payment of boarding fee of N30, 000, balance of WAEC, NECO and NABTEB N11, 000. Other are N2, 000 for medical, ICT training, extra lesson, utility and N1, 000 for sports, vocational, club and society and security.
