Former chairman of IjebuEast Local Government, and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun State, Hon Wale Adedayo is eyeing a return back to the office, but this time under a new political party.

Adedayo, a political Titan, a seasoned journalist and administrator, was the embattled Chairman of the local government, who was impeached by the council’s lawmakers following his confrontation with the state Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun, who he accused of withholding the state’s local government allocations and preventing real development at the grassroots.

Adedayo on a post titled Call to Action: Rejuvenating Our Land, published on his Facebook Timeline on Friday, expressed his desire to go back to the trenches and slug it out again on the political turf.

He assured his political associates of his undivided attention to the cause of the people, fighting poverty and ensuring the dividends of democracy is felt even at the grassroots.

The statement reads:

Call to Action: Rejuvenating Our Land

By the grace of Olodumare, we resume our journey, committed to being true Afenifere in words and deeds. Our focus is on the grassroots, where the majority of our people reside, carrying the weight of our collective progress. We owe them good governance, and we’re dedicated to delivering it.

Our Vehicle: New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP)

We’ve chosen the NNPP as our vehicle for this journey. While some may be intimidated, we appreciate the quiet support of our “Nicodemuses” and “Josephs of Arimathea.” History will remember their contributions.

Our Template for Progress

The NNPP has a comprehensive template for local government aspirants, focusing on:

I. Economic Turnaround

  • Agriculture and food production
  • Industrial estate establishment
  • Animal ranches
  • Market expansion and renovation

II. Education for All

  • Free education up to JSS 3
  • LGA Skill and Vocational Institute
  • Primary school renovation and fencing
  • Bursary awards and scholarships

III. Health is Wealth Programme

  • Free basic medical treatment for seniors and children
  • Well-equipped Health Centres
  • Refuse collection and recycling
  • LGA Health Insurance

IV. Road Infrastructure

  • Motorable roads
  • Drainages and culverts
  • Solar street lights

A Promise to Our People

We commit to these initiatives and more. We need your support in every way possible. This is a collective effort to rejuvenate our land, and we promise not to fail you.

Sunrise News recalled that Wale Adedayo drew the bike of the Ogun State Governor and the political hierarchy of the state when he confronted the Governor, accusing him of withholding allocations to the local governments.

When all efforts to made him recant his positioned failed, the political establishment moved against him and ensured he was impeached by the Ijebu East Local Government councillors who accused him of high handedness, and financial recklessness, forcing him out of office in 2023.

Adedayo had lied low since his travail with the state governor and shocked not a few when he announced moves to re-contest the office of the chairman of IjebuEast Local Government Area again, under a completely new political party.

Adedayo, who was erstwhile Chief Press Secretary to former Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel is a respected grassroots politician and a mobiliser who believes in the Age tested value adding ethos of Afenifere progressive politics
