The Lagos State government has added four more Local Government Areas and five Local Council Development Areas to the list of councils where okada operations are banned.
They include,
- Kosofe Local Government
a. Ikosi-Isheri LCDA
b. Agboyi-Ketu LCDA - Oshodi-Isolo Local Government
a. Isolo LCDA - Shomolu Local Government
a. Bariga LCDA. - Mushin Local Government
a. Odi-Olowo LCDA
The ban goes into operation on September 1st, 2022.
Recall that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu had slammed a total ban on okada operation in six Local Governments and nine LCDAs.
The ban which came into force on June 1, 2022 affected the following Local Governments:
Apapa,
Ikeja,
Surulere,
Eti Osa,
Lagos Mainland,
Lagos Island. Also affected are all the nine LCDAs in all these areas.
The Lagos State Government had on August 16, 2022 held a Stakeholders Forum to review the performance of the ban on the 15 local governments where the ban had been enforced since June 1, 2022.
Participants at the event had given the government the go-ahead to extend statewide the ban on okada operation in Lagos State.
