Gov. Buni submits list of commissioners to House of Assembly

Yobe Governor Mai-Mala Buni

After five months from inauguration, Yobe State Governor Hon. Mai Mala Buni has finally forwarded the names of commissioner nominees to the State House of Assembly.

The list was sent to the House yesterday evening to the Speaker of the State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Ahmed Lawan Mirwa.

A source at the House of Assembly who does not want to be mentioned informed that the list was forwarded to the Speaker at about 6.00pm on Thursday.

Though the list has not been made officially public, sources at the House informed that about three former commissioners from the Ibrahim Gaidam led government made the lists. They include, Alhaji Mala Musti from Tarmuwa Local Government, Mohammed Lamin from Damaturu Local Government, and Bukar Dauda from Giedam local government.

The emergence of the trio of Mala Musti, Bukar Dauda and Mohammed Lamin was undoubtedly speculated due to their close link to former governor Ibrahim Gaidam.

One of the shocking names on the list is Mr. Abdullahi Bego from Jakusko Local Government who has is currently serving as the Directors Press to Gov. Buni having served two other Governors, Late Sen. Mamman Ali and the immediate past Governor Ibrahim Gaidam in the same capacity since 2007.

Though there were speculations that former Gov. Ibrahim Gaidam has substantially authored or vetted the list before it was finally sent to the House of Assembly, there are however names on the list that are close political associates of Gov. Mai Mala Buni.

It is also shocking that one former Senator, Alkali Jajare, and three former members of the House of Representative, Rt. Hon. Goni Bukar, Hon. Sidi Yakubu Karasuwa and Hon. Abdullahi Kukuwa have been nominated to serve as commissioners by Gov. Mai Mala Buni.

Hajiya (Dr.) Mairo Ahmsi, one time commissioner during the Gov. Bukar Abba Ibrahim regime who left the then APP to the PDP after the fallout of the 2007 gubernatorial elections in Yobe is now on the list of the nominee having worker assiduously for the APC in the last general elections.

One of Gov. Buni’s close associates Dr. Garba Ilya who retired from Lake Chad Basin a long time ago has also made the list of the commissioners.

The twenty man list is expected to be formally unveiled by State House of Assembly on Tuesday next week at plenary.
