Bishop of the Catholic Church of Sokoto, ArchBishop Matthew Kukah has described governance in Nigeria as a criminal enterprise with skewed reward systems.
Kukah, a social commentator who is also the convener of the Nigeria Peace Accord Initiative said the reward system for politicians would continue to fuel corruption and insecurity as many people will continue to struggle for political offices.
He spoke at the Channels Television programme Polity Today anchored by Seun Okinbaloye, Sunrise.ng News reports.
Bishop Kukah said despite the series of promises by President Muhammadu Buhari, insecurity and corruption remains a major challenge dogging the administration as it approaches the last lap of its stay in power.
According to him, President Muhammadu Buhari continues to fail Nigerians in the most critical areas.
He said he often wonders where politicians are getting the money to build the gargantuan structures they keep erecting all over the place, anytime he comes around Abuja, when Nigeria is the poverty capital of the world, when many people, especially the youths are unemployed, when the number of out of school children keeps growing and when insecurity remained the most testy issue that remained unresolved.
