Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has announced that he has recovered from the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).
Sunrise.ng reports that the Benue governor had tested positive for the novel coronavirus on January 27, 2021. Ortom urged those who have come in contact with him in the last couple of days to go for a COVID-19 test.
But speaking to newsmen on Wednesday at the new banquet hall of Government House, Makurdi, Ortom said the result of his samples tested for COVID-19 has returned negative.
The governor appreciated his deputy, Benson Abounu, for piloting the affairs of the state while he was away in isolation. He also applauded his cabinet members for being loyal and dedicated.
Ortom thanked the people of the state, his friends and supporters across the country for their prayers during the period of self-isolation.
He, however, urged the people of the state to continue to adhere strictly to the COVID-19 protocols.
Recall that this is the second time the governor is recovering from COVID-19, having tested positive for the virus on two occasions.
Ortom’s aides which included his personal physician, aide de camp, orderly, permanent secretaries among others had tested positive for the virus.
