Kaduna State governor, Uba Sani has been conferred with the traditional title of Ezienyi Ndigbo (friend of the Igbo people) by Igbo Community Welfare Association ( ICWA) in Kaduna State.

This was announced yesterday by the President General of ICWA, Chief Francis Uchenna on the occasion of the 2024 Igbo Cultural Day Celebration in Kaduna.

This was even as governor Sani approved the allocation of a large expanse of land for the building of a Spare Parts Market in Kaduna State.

He also announced a donation of a bus to the Igbo community, commending them for keeping peace in the State, especially their refusal to join the recent nationwide protest.

Governor Sani disclosed that the papers for the land were being processed by the Kaduna Geographic Information Service (KADGIS) for onward delivery to the Igbo community.

The governor promised to “personally perform the groundbreaking for the construction of the Spare Parts Market.”

According to him, Kaduna State Government is willing and ready to partner with Igbo industrialists and entrepreneurs as his administration offers very attractive incentives.

Governor Sani described the Igbo as a unique people who are “industrious, hardworking, resilient, resourceful and accommodating,” adding that they have contributed to the growth and development of Kaduna State.

“Despite challenges, your faith in the huge potentials and possibilities of Kaduna State remain unshaken,” the Governor pointed out, urging Igbos to continue investing in critical sectors of the state.

According to the Governor, his administrations economic agenda is to sustain Kaduna State’s enviable status “as a premier investment destination in Nigeria.”

“We aim to attract investments across diverse sectors, create jobs and facilitate technology and skills transfer, making our labour force skilled and employable,” he said.

He thanked the Igbo community for conferring him with a title, describing it as a great honour.

Earlier, in his welcome address, the President General of Igbo Community Welfare Association (ICWA), Chief Francis Uchenna Ani, listed why Governor Uba Sani was given the title.

“We painstakingly looked at what your administration has done in the last 18 months since you assumed office as the Executive Governor of Kaduna State.

“Your inclusive and open governance approach, the near total peace and harmonious coexistence amongst various tribes and ethnic groups in Kaduna State are some of the indices we considered.

“The communities in Kaduna State are highly impressed with the giant strides your administration has recorded within a short period in office.

“Your efforts in rural infrastructural development, especially the ongoing construction of over 60 rural roads and completion of several others, reconstruction of secondary schools, primary health centers and schools across the state are commendable,” he added.
