Group alerts INEC, beware of Obanikoro’s plot against LP Reps candidates

Obanikoro

A pressure group known as Labour Party Restoration Team has accused a Chieftain of All Progressives Congress in Lagos State Senator Musiliu Obanikoro of planning to covertly remove names of Labour Party House of Representatives candidates off the Independent National Electoral Commission’s website.

The group in a statement signed by its President Anyamaefula Christopher, counseled INEC not to allow such a desperately movement to undermine the people’s franchise as freely exercised via the polls on Saturday 25th February 2023 in support of Labour Party’s Reps candidates across the state to materialise.
According to the group, Obanikoro’s evil plot is allegedly targeted at rewriting the history already made so as to pave way for his son, who clearly lost out in Eti-Osa federal constituency in order for him to stage a come back through the courts.
The statement read in part,”We have gathered from a reliable source that Senator Musiliu Obanikoro is hellbent on compromising the House of Representatives elections that ended on Saturday 25th February 2023 with INEC officially declared winners on 26th February 2023.
“This is to alert the general public that Senator Obanikoro have compromised the ICT section of INEC to the extent that the list of Labour Party House of Representatives Candidates in Lagos State may have been removed from their website.
“This is a gimmick he hopes will be in favour of his son, Babajide Obanikoro who lost woefully in the Saturday polls in Eti Osa Federal Constituency.
Describing the moves as quite unfortunate, the group maintained that Senator Obanikoro’s plan is capable of setting the state on fire for selfish reasons.
“Why would a man of his status wants to subvert a democratic process that ended on a good rating?
“This is a call on INEC to ensure that the list of Labour Party candidates for the House of Representatives elections in Lagos State is not removed from their website.
“An action potent enough to disrupt the already fragile peace experienced in Lagos State since the conclusion of the election.
“We trust the reasonability of the INEC Chairman not to allow such anomalies to happen under his watch.
“ So, it is expedient that the management of INEC investigates its ICT Department so as not to bring further disrepute on the organisation.”
