State Coordinators from five of the six states in the South-West, have distanced themselves from the “purported appointment of Hon. Ambali Abiodun as the South-West Coordinator of the Tinubu Support Organisation (TSO).
The TSO is the umbrella body for all groups mobilizing electoral support for the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential flag bearer in the South West States.
The Coordinators in a communique made available to Sunrise News, said the group, which has appreciable presence in Lagos, Ogun, Osun, Ondo and Ekiti States, have being receiving significant support and encouragement from the Lagos State chapter, which has remained the melting pot of all TSO activities in the South West including the support the Director General Hon Aminu Suleiman has received.
They therefore described as “utter disregard for goodwill and good judgment,” any appointment that disregarded the arrangement to pick a coordinator from Oyo State.
The five States Coordinators: Hon Akin Ilesanmi, – TSO Lagos State Coordinator; Hon Lanre Oyegbola-Sodipo, TSO Ogun State Coordinator, Hon. Segun Fanibe, TSO Ogun State Coordinator, Hon Akin Akingbesote, TSO Ondo State Coordinator, and Hon Gabriel Babalola, TSO Ekiti State, in a communiqué issued on Wednesday, warned that the decision would boomerang negatively in the South West adding that it would not only reject the nomination of Ambali but would not permit any form of engagements in their respective states.
The communiqué further stated: “It’s equally of importance to note that should there be any consideration for a coordinator for south west following the new alignments in TSO national and the National Working Committee of TSO that would warrant an appointment of any of the current state coordinator, it would be appropriate to allow the South West Coordinators to meet and decide on who to nominate, but an action different from this is considered an affront and potentially can set us all in a disarray in the South West.
They therefore cautioned and stated unequivocally that “Only a unanimously nominated coordinator from the south west can be assigned the role and responsibilities of a south west coordinator.”
They demanded that all state coordinators must be present before any such coordinator could be appointed or elected, and any decision contrary to their demand would not be considered binding on any of the TSO state chapters.
They wondered why someone who has dissociated himself from the meetings of TSO Coordinators in the SouthWest could be appointed coordinator of the same region, adding that anything contrary would not be furthering the democratic tenets and philosophy of the great leader and presidential candidate of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
