GIRL LAgos

An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State on Thursday remanded a 58-year-old guard, Okon Johnson, in Kirikiri prison for allegedly defiling his 14-year-old daughter.

He was arraigned before Magistrate Bola Osunsanmi on a one-count charge of child defilement preferred against him by the police.

Prosecutor Rapheal Dony said the offence was committed last month about 16.00 hours at their home, 25, Charismatic Road, Abule Gbaga, Ijede Road, Ikorodu, Lagos.

Okon, it was alleged, took advantage of the absence of his wife to defile his daughter each time he brought her back from school.

The mother, who was said to be working in a far place, only came home at the end of every month.

After the charge was read, Magistrate Osunsanmi did not take his plea.

She ordered Okon to be remanded in Kirikiri prison and adjourned the matter till January 23.
