Nollywood veteran actor Victor Olaotan on Thursday night died in Lagos after a prolonged ailment.
The former ‘Tinsel’ lead actor who is popularly known as ‘Big Daddy,’ was bedridden for five years haven suffered a traumatic brain injury after he was involved in a ghastly accident in October 2016.
His wife, Julia Olatan, said she is grateful the actor can finally rest after being trapped in his body for five years as a result of the sickness.
The wife who had been relentlessly seeking support for the actor confirmed his death on Friday.
“He has tried. It is not easy to be trapped in your own body for five years. He can finally rest,” she said.
The veteran actor had celebrated his 69th birthday on Wednesday, February 17, 2021, in a Turkish hospital battling with the effects of a traumatic brain injury he suffered after the ghastly car accident in October 2016.
He recently returned to Nigeria when his condition deteriorated and his family could no longer bear his medical bills abroad.
Two years after being incapacitated, the actor had in 2018, sought financial support for his treatment outside the country.
In 2019, Nigerian billionaire Femi Otedola donated N30m to settle his bill of about N39m.
The actor had featured in movies like “Love Struck” as well as “The Three Wise Men” among others.
