At least one has been confirmed dead and many others injured in a fracas between Yoruba Nation agitators and men of the Nigerian Police in the Ojota area of Lagos.
Though details of the clash remained sketchy, the Yoruba Nation agitators had planned to have a rally at Ojota on Monday, to press home their demand for self –determination, when their peaceful protest assumed a violent twist.
Witnesses claimed the peace around the area was suddenly aborted as sporadic gunshots rented the air.
An unconfirmed report had it that three persons, including a policeman were gunned down in the cross fire.
But the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin said only one person was confirmed dead.
He said policemen have already restored peace to the area, and assured Nigerians to go about their normal activities as the situation has been brought under control.
