Afrobeats artist Ruger has disclosed that his musical career began in a church choir.

He revealed this on a recent edition of the Apple Music show Africa Now.

Ruger claims that his experience in the church choir helped him improve his vocal abilities.

The Bounce hitmaker explained that he doesn’t even flaunt his vocal ability in his songs, stressing that those who have experienced him performing live have had the opportunity to enjoy his vocals.

He said, “Only people who have experienced me perform live have had the opportunity to enjoy my vocals. Even in my music, I don’t necessarily show it off.

“My favourite time being Ruger is when I’m performing on stage because I get to do whatever I like with my songs. I started from the choir.
