Ifako-Ijaiye abandoned library to be upgraded to a modern ICT Centre

The moribund Ifako-Ijaiye Public Library  initiated during the regime of former Member, House of Representatives and former chairman, Ifako-Ijaiye LG Area of Lagos State, late Alhaji Morufudeen  Adeola  Adefolabi, will soon enjoy a facelift. 

Giving the assurance while on inspection tour of the facility at  Vetland  Primary  School Complex,  Old Abeokuta Rd, Oko-Oba, Agege,  on Saturday, 22 February, 2020, The Honourable Minister of Sport & Youth Development, Mr Sunday Dare,  was earlier received  in audience by the duo of Ifako-Ijaiye LG Chairman, Apostle Oloruntoba Oke, his counterpart and chairman, Ojokoro LCDA, Hon. HID,  as well as the Honourable Member, representing Ifako-Ijaiye Federal Constituency, Hon. James Adisa Owolabi.

While addressing the august visitor, Hon. Owolabi, said” the abandoned project had  become an eyesore and home to hoodlums during odd hours of the day, hence the dire need for the facility to be upgraded to enable his people especially the youths to be equipped with relevant kills for them  to be useful to our society at large”,  he stated.

Oke, who also spoke  in line with the request of the  member, House of Representatives, presented more proposals to the Honourable Minister, noting ” that opportunities like this do  not come everyday”, he said.

The council  boss, while  commending  Hon. Owolabi,added that ” for creating this  avenue and more within few months in office, we have felt  the  Federal Government  presence like never before in Ifako-Ijaiye “,  he said. 

His Ojokoro LCDA  counterpart, Hon. Hameed Idowu Tijani (HID), also commended Hon. Owolabi, for his efforts so far,  urging the Minister to ensure all the proposals are considered and implemented.

Also speaking at the event, chairman, CDC,  Ifako-Ijaiye LG, Pastor Samuel Olu-Opajobi, pleaded with the Honourable Minister to consider the construction of a public primary school on a community piece of land at Ndike  Obawole, which the latter assured would be given consideration after necessary modalities between the local government, member, House of Representatives and the Federal Government must have been worked out. 

The Honourable  Minister,  while responding, pledged to partner with the Federal Ministry of Education and the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) under the Presidency to bring a Resource  Centre For Skill Acquisition & Training  for the Youth and Women in Ifako-Ijaiye for social and economic growth in the area.
