Ifako-Ijaiye council chief plays host to LASIEC towards LG election

SUNRISE NEWS, Lagos, July 11, 2020 The Chairman Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government, Apostle Oloruntoba Oke on Wednesday, 8 July,2020 played host to the Lagos State independent Electoral Commission team led by Dr.Bunmi Omosehindemi at the Council Secretariat, Ogba Lagos.

Bunmi Omosehindemi, a commissioner with LASIEC came to consummate the laid down conditions toward the preparation for local government elections next year.

The commissioner charged the council Chairman to justify the confidence the electorate reposed  in him by voting overwhelmingly for him three years ago. You have only one more year for your tenure to terminate, ” the electorate are getting more sensitive, they yearn for proper dividends of democracy which only credible leaders will enjoy re- election because your stewardship will be put under the front burner  or scrutinized”, the law allows for a maximum two terms but the electorate will determine your suitability”.

In furtherance to this, LASIEC offices all over the 20 Local Governments and 37 Local Council Development Areas have sensitive Electoral Materials, you are expected to provide a conducive environment  for LASIEC officials with a view to enhance their operations. He said the assessment working tour became imperative at this point in order to draw the attention of Council chairmen to the LASIEC calendar.

In his response,The Executive Chairman thanked  the commissioner and his team assuring them of optimum cooperation from the local government  harping on the completion and fixing of offices to be used under a conducive atmosphere for officials of LASIEC.

To justify the efforts put in place by the local government, the team were  shown the ongoing construction of the permanent Council Secretariat in Idiagbon  which is near completion to corroborate the council’s readiness.

Other personalities who were part of the visit include: Mr Fasu Ayedun, Prof. Gabriel Babawale, Dr.Jinadu Lawal Noah, Mrs Sinatu Bandele Fadipe , Director Operations & Logistics, Mrs Aladetoun, Electoral officer in charge of Ifako-Ijaiye, Mr Olaigbe Gbenga, and Mrs Lola Jagunmolu, Public Affairs officer.

Those that received the LASIEC team with the Chairman are ,SLG; Pst. Ayo Jeje, Council Leader, Hon. Abiodun Akinola, CM, Mr Adewunmi Ogunbambi, Mrs Toyin Akerele and the public Affairs officer of Ifako-Ijaiye LG, Mrs Aniedi Bello.
