Chairman of Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area, in Lagos State, Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada has assured residents of the council that her administration would provide more developmental projects across the seven wards of the council in the new fiscal year.
The council chairman, popularly called Mayoress, gave the assurance on Tuesday, at the council secretariat, during the Stakeholders’ Forum on 2021 Budget Proposal.
Princess Bada stated that the rationale behind the stakeholders’ forum is to allow and enable all major actors in the council to participate in the policy making and implementation at the local government level, on the Needs, Revenue, and Expenditure for the new fiscal year.
The council chairman disclosed that this year stakeholders’ forum is unique and different, as the council’s lawmakers, popularly called councillors for the first time in the history of the council had last week organised community version of the stakeholders forum in the seven wards of the LCDA.
She commended the councillors for making the stakeholders forum at the wards level a success, adding that checks and balances are essential democratic mechanism for proper regulation and monitoring of the system.
She stated further that the new system of revenue collection is premised on probity, transparency and proper accountability, and it will assist in the allocation of scarce resources to the needs of various communities.
While recalling how challenging and tough year 2020 was, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, she gave glory to God, members of the council’s Executive Committee, Legislators, Management and Staff for the modest achievements recorded by her administration.
She also expressed appreciation to community leaders and All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders and faithful in the council for their unflinching support to her administration. Mayoress assured all residents that the trust reposed in her administration will not be betrayed, as all the inputs and needs submitted by stakeholders from the seven wards will be given adequate attention and consideration in the proposed 2021 Appropriation Bill.
She urged all tax paying residents of the council to continue to perform their civic responsibility by paying their rates and levies promptly to the council’s purse.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Council Manager, Prince Olujobi Adegbola commended the council chairman for being passionate about the development of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA.
He stressed that concerted efforts will be made by all stakeholders in the revenue generation business towards ensuring that the revenue profile of the council improves tremendously in the new fiscal year,as this will contribute largely to the capability of the present administration to providing more dividend of democracy for the people.
All the speakers that made contributions during the forum commended Princess Bada for her good leadership style and giant strides recorded since she assumed office on January 30th, 2020.
In attendance at the forum were, the Vice Chairman of the council, Alhaji Mukail Adisa, Leader of the Legislative Arm, Hon Usman Akanni Ajibola, members of the Executive Committees, the councillors, traditional rulers, management staff, community and religious leaders, APC party faithful, traders, artisans and the physically challenged people.
