The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church Of God (RCCG) Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye has said God is yet to show or tell him whether or not there will be an election next year.

Adeboye who spoke at the monthly Thanksgiving service of the church at the National Headquarters of the church at Ebute Meta, Lagos, said perhaps he has not been told because he is too preoccupied with praying for the many issues battering the country to be concerned about events that is a year away.

Adeboye said he is a pastor who is committed to prayers and not a politician and can never be a politician.

He said: “My assignment is to pray. I have nothing to do with partisan politics, don’t distract my attention. Whether in secret or open, I have never asked any of my children to vote for anyone or anybody and I will not do so.”

Adeboye wondered why Nigerians are picking him up on his charge to his children to be involved in politics said he is a priest and not a politician but have a responsibility to ensure that as Nigerians everyone picks interest in who they elected.

“All of us as Nigerians have a duty to our country to belong to any party of your choice and who to vote for and to ensure that your vote count. You can’t sit down, fold your hands, refuse to vote a d begin to complain after a government has been formed. They will choose for you because you refuse to do anything”.

He therefore restated his charge on Christians to ensure they register, vote, sit down to ensure that their votes are counted and ensure that there is no more rigging in Nigeria.

“I don’t care who you vote for, or which party you choose, my responsibility is to ensure that you play your part and vote, because your future depends on it”, he said.

To those wondering why people are bothering about his concern said if the newspapers could have it that witches claimed they are interested in 2023 election and asked: “if witches are interested in the election, why not Christians?
