Mr Benjamin Anyanwu whose daughter, Gift Ofoegbu from Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State who was allegedly raped by a youth leader in the community, Okechukwu Ekezie has appealed to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun to help her daughter get justice.
Ekezie and some other suspects who are still being held at the State police command for the alleged incident were yet to be charged to court.
But Anyanwu while speaking to our correspondent said he would like the IGP to prevail on the matter so that his daughter could get justice.
Also speaking , a human rights activists ,Esther Obioma who had earlier brought the petition before the State Commissioner of Police ,Aboki Danjuma had insisted that the matter be settled at the law court.
The State Police spokesman, Henry Okoye who had earlier acknowledged the arrest of the suspects said the matter is presently being investigated at the command’s Criminal Investigation Department(CID).
He also added “We are doing everything we can to ensure the victim gets the justice she deserves”.
However, a source from the police command said the CP had already ordered the matter be charged to court but the suspects and their families were pleading for out of court settlement.
