INEC reappoints Rose Oriaran- Anthony for second term

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has approved the reappointment of Mrs Rose Oriaran- Anthony as Secretary of the commission.
She was the first woman to have her tenure renewed, and the second to be appointed secretary of the commission.
In a statement issued by the National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye, Mrs Rose Oriaran-Anthony, is being reappointed in accordance with the provision of Section 8 of the Electoral Act 2022, for a second term which begins with effect from December 7, 2022.
Rose Oriaran-Anthony hails from Edo State. She holds a Barchlor of Education (B.Ed) degree in Language Arts from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, a Master’s degree in Puic Administration from the University of Abuja, and another Master’s degree in Public Communication and Public Relations from the University of Westminster, United Kingdom.
She is a long term staff of the Commission and has served as Public Affairs Officer, Assistant Director (Information and Publicity), Deputy Director, (Voter Education), and Director (Civil Society Liaison). Her last post was Administrative Secretary in Delta State, before her first appointment on 5th of December 2018.
Meanwhile, the Commission approved the release of the guidelines for the conduct of political rallies, procession, and campaigns. It also approves guidelines for the finances and election expenses of political parties, candidates and aspirants.
The Commission said it has uploaded these two guidelines to its website’s as well as all it’s social media handles even as it assures that copies of these guidelines would be made available to political parties, civil society groups, the media and other critical stakeholders.
The Commission reminded all political parties to submit all required reports to the Commission in accordance with the provision of Section 90(4) of the Electoral Act 2022 as the Commission will not fail to sanction any failure to comply in accordance with section 8 of the Electoral Act, 2022.
