Insecurity: State Police may take effect soon as NEC awaits final input from states

Vice President-elect Kashim Shettima.

There are strong indications that State Policing may soon come on stream nationwide as the National Economic Council, NEC deliberated on it extensively on Wednesday at the Presidential Villa.

Vice President Kashim Shettima who chaired deliberations at the NEC has, however, mandated four states(names withheld) which are yet to submit their input to do so, on or before next week Monday.

Lawal Adebayo told reporters at the presidency on Wednesday that NEC has given those states until September 9 to do the needful or all agreements will be binding on them.

Recall that there had been clamour for the creation of state policing to mitigate the impact of insecurity in almost all regions of the country.

While few states have begun the implementation, a number of states have been indifferent regarding the recommendation.
