The newly installed Oniwoye of Iwoye, in Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State, Oba Ololade Makinde has assured the present administration of the unalloyed commitment of his people to the progress and overall development of the State.
Oba Makinde gave the assurance at his installation and presentation of Staff of Office as the new Oniwoye, held at Iwoye, appreciating the government for ensuring sustenance of tradition by giving credence to due process, just as he promised to facilitate more progress to the community and the state at large.
Speaking at the event, the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun urged the monarch to enhance peaceful co-existence among his people and his neighbouring communities, so as to justify the mandate and the trust reposed on him.
Represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Afolabi Afuape, Prince Abiodun said that the traditional institution would continue to be accorded the rightful position in his administration, charging Oba Makinde to see his appointment as a call to serve his people, create a sustainable and conducive environment that could attract investors to Iwoye and its environs.
He appreciated the support and efforts of the citizens towards successful implementation of the various laudable and people-oriented programmes of his administration, noting that the people of the State would benefit more from the dividend of democracy in his tenure more than they expected.
“The traditional institution in our society regardless of the advent of modernization remains a rallying point for our people, it is a veritable vehicle for the dissemination of government policies, programmes and mobilization of the populace,” Abiodun said
He reiterated his commitment at transforming and repositioning the State through provision of laudable infrastructural development across the 20 Local Government Areas in the State, noting that it would continue till assumes its enviable position among the comity of states.
In his welcoming address, the Transition Committee Chairman of the Council, Alhaji Fagbenro Abdulrahmon, appealed to the people of the community to support and cooperate with new Oba, to successfully move Iwoye land forward, saying that it was their collective responsibility to move the community to the greater height.
Also speaking, Adele Oba of Iwoye land, Chief Wale Adesina, in his remarks advised Oba Makinde to be accessible, receptive and responsive to the yearning and aspiration of the people of his community.
