Joe Igbokwe to Nigerians: Don’t vote for looters

A plea has gone to Nigerians not to hand over the rein of power in the coming presidential election to looters of the nation’s economy.

The Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Joe Igbokwe, made the plea on Tuesday, at the inauguration of the state executive council members of the Coalition for Buhari/Osinbajo Movement (COBOM) which took place at Awori House, Oregun,Ikeja, Lagos.

He said for 16 years, the Peoples Democratic Party looted the nation’s treasury and cornered the budgets to themselves perfecting what he described as “dynamic activity”

He said though the party had awarded lofty contracts, nothing happened as the contracts were merely a conduit to corner the nation’s commonwealth.

He said: “contrary to the regime of looters, the Buhari/Osinbajo administration has done so much with the lean resources, touching lives, and effecting profound changes that has touched all sectors of the economy.”

According to Igbokwe, the APC government has left huge footprints that spans power generation, housing, health, road constructions that includes bridges and rail lines meant to connect all the nation’s state capitals.

He likened the pains being experienced by the people as the sacrifices that people must pay if the nation must move away from the rot of the past, and for the future that lies ahead.

According to him, if the nation could witness this very huge achievements in four years, only God knows where we would be if the administration is given more time.

“The Buhari/Osinbajo administration needs more time to consolidate on the achievements of the past three years. Compared to our past experience, these two leaders are God sent, and they are willing to take the nation away from the clutches of the looters and destroyers whose main assignment is to plunder the nation’s resources,” Igbokwe added.

He therefore charged COBOM members to, like soldiers, go alI out to enlighten the electorates at the grassroots across the country to vote massivelyy for Buhari/Osinbajo. “Go and canvass for the collection of PVCs for those who have not yet done so. INEC has said people can still collect till February 2. Make sure people are enlightened even about the voting process. Now, we are going g to use the fore finger and not the thumb, to vote.”

For him, the forthcoming election is for the future of Nigeria and Nigerians must not sit on the fence, but engage actively and vote massively for a party that has demonstrated the willingness to take the nation out of the woods.

COBOM’s convener/National Coordinator Comrade Esiekpe Augustine said the movement which has membership spread across the country has raised foot soldiers who are committed to raising the awareness of Nigerians to the good that the Buhari/Osinbajo ticket represents.

He said the movement would on Thursday, be inaugurating its national executive council at the nation’s capital Abuja, adding; “we at COBOM are convinced that this is the right thing to do. We are on this journey because we are convinced that what Nigeria needs now is to consolidate on the gains of the Buhari/Osinbajo administration and we are determined to play our part towards the realisation of this lofty dream.”

He therefore charged all his members not to be distracted by the antics of the opposition, but to go all out within the limited days before the election to sensitise the peoples, especially those at the grassroots to vote massively for the APC.

“Those who have held this country down for so long would surely fight back. They are against Buhari because he has blocked all the areas where they have been feeding fat on the economy and the masses of the people must show them that the power resides in us,” he added.

In his goodwill message, the National Coordinator Buhari Progressives Youth Vanguard Leo Obasi, charged the movement to go all out to ensure that they support the Buhari/Osinbajo administration.

Obasi, said: “We as a nation solemnly left the colonial era and never went back, we left the military era and never went back, we left the PDP era in 2015, and we would never go back.”

The highlight of the event was the inauguration of the local government coordinators of the movement, who were charged to go all out and embark on a campaign as you go in all nooks and crannies of the state.
