Journalist, one other shot during protest in Osogbo, Osun State

The Osun State correspondent of The Nation Newspaper, Toba Adedeji was on Tuesday shot by men of the Nigeria Police in Osogbo.

It was gathered that Toba was hit by a stray bullet alongside an unidentified female student by police personnel who were engaged in quelling a protest at the popular Olaiya junction, Osogbo.

The police personnel, it was gathered were shooting sporadically to disperse the protesters.

The protesters who had gathered at the popular junction were mourning the April 4, 2022 killing of Abiola Afolabi by police personnel.

Afolabi, it was learnt was buried on Tuesday while his friends decided on a rally to mourn him.

The bullet hit Toba on the leg while the lady was hit on the thigh.

The Osun State Police Command is yet to react to the shooting.

Toba Adedeji, at the time of filing this report, has been taken to the Osun State University Teaching Hospital for medical treatment.
