Kwara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has said the home base of the former speaker of the State House of Assembly, Ibrahim Isa Bio, who dumped the party for the PDP, remains with the APC despite his defection.
Reacting to the development in a statement, the State Publicity Secretary of the APC, Tajudeen Aro, said “Bio’s decision is purely personal and totally unrelated to community development and popular good.”
The party said the entire community, as well as Dr Jamila Bio, biological daughter of the former minister, who is currently serving as Senior Special Assistant on SDGs to Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, are fully with the APC.”
“It is reassuring indeed that the daughter of the former minister and the entire Gure/Gwasoro community have firmly decided to keep faith with the APC along with Baruten Local Government and the entire Kwara North Senatorial District as they are witnessing unprecedented good governance through infrastructural development and effective, equitable representation at state and federal levels,” the party stated.
The party specifically noted the development of new roads, hospitals, renovation of schools and particularly the establishment of the first state radio station in Kwara North located in Baruten Local Government Area.
It said “whereas we do not want to lose any member, Alhaji Bio Ibrahim, has a right to his ambition to contest for the Senate and under the platform of his choice.
“The APC, however, retains its right to also urge every party member to put the interest of their communities first, particularly as the APC administration is performing well ”
