The Speaker, Kwara House of Assembly, Mr Salihu Yakubu-Danladi, has called for a robust synergy between the legislature and the media to achieve benefits of democracy.
The speaker made the appeal in llorin on Tuesday when he received the President, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Mr Chris Isiguzor, and hid team during a courtesy visit.
He said such collaboration would help to enlighten the people on various projects embarked upon by the government.
He urged the media to be objective in their reports, noting that no system is perfect.
“We are not perfect, let us continue to correct and not condemn each other. It should be done in constructive manner for the greater good of the people.
“As watchdog of the executive arm of government, we will do thorough oversight function on public projects, like we thoroughly scrutinised the 2020 budget and we will carry the media along, ” he said.
Isiguzor had earlier said part of his reasons for the nationwide working tour was to know how journalists are fairing in their work places.
