The President General of Ladipo Market in Oshodi, Mr Jude Chike Nwankwo has implored the Lagos State Government to expedite action on the ongoing road construction within the market promising thorough maintenance afterwards.
Jude made this plea, while welcoming the Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Commerce and Industry led by Hon. Jude Idimogu member representing Oshodi /Isolo constituency II, which made an oversight visit to the market sequel to the directives of the Speaker Mudashiru Obasa that a visit be made by the committee to ascertain what challenges they have in the course of their daily transactions in the market.
He noted that there are 45 units within the market and commerce is adversely affected due to poor state of the road prior to Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s electioneering campaign promise to fix them.
According to Jude, we need a pedestrian bridge at Toyota Bus Stop as thousands of our members are on the other side of the road; and many have died in the course of crossing over the Apapa/Oshodi expressway on their way back to their homes.
“We also call for construction of public toilets in the market; we have resolved to see to the maintenance of the road and toilets once constructed.
“We appreciate Governor Ambode’s feat in the state and especially in Ladipo but it is important that works on the road construction is hastened up, to ease our business here.
Hon. Jude in his response said that the construction of pedestrian bridge is so important to him due to the direct impact it has on constituents.
He hinted that “Ambode has assured that this bridge will be done once they finish airport road, I challenged the people from the ministry of works and they noted that it has been taken care of.
“I urge you to feel free to write us and we would take up your case.
