Lagos State House of Assembly Acting Clerk, Barrister Olalekan Onafeko has affirmed the decisive nature of the Speaker, Rt. Hon Mudashiru Obasa in picking right persons for leadership as Ms. Abosede Lambo, the Executive Secretary, Lagos State House of Assembly Service Commission (LAHASCOM) officially bows out of service.
Onafeko commended the Speaker of the House,Rt.Hon. Mudashiru Obasa for his tenacious style of leadership and selfless interest in human capital development.
“All I can say is that we all know who Mr Speaker is and all that she had said is just a tip of the iceberg of what the Rt. Hon Speaker represent. She as a person has benefited immensely from the magnanimity, the kind heartedness and Mr.Speaker being a welfarist.
“Aside from the fact that he always look for the best in the selection for leadership position, he doesn’t go for this bureaucratic thing, though it is good relating to structural arrangements of the civil service but sometimes it can also be an impediment.
“So if we are to assess I can say he is someone that has this capacity that is Mr Speaker, to select the best for the job and in this wise in selecting her, he has not made a mistake.” He said.
Speaking further, Onafeko described the celebrant, Lambo who was appointed Executive Secretary of LAHASCOM on the 13th of February 2020 as “a jolly good fellow, wonderful senior colleague and a friend before she became a Secretary to the commission, we’ve had reasons to be together.
“She is someone that always look out for you, though nobody is perfect but she try as much as possible to perform her responsibility in such a way that she did not hurt anybody.
“By my own task which is to assert discipline, we sometimes have to be on collision course but she has this way of pleading and appealing on behalf of maybe someone that might have run foul.
“Now that she is leaving having paid her due and made her mark by getting to the peak of her career, all I can say is to wish her the very best because retirement comes with a lot of things but I pray for the best of everything for her.
“So that she will spend her retirement in happiness and have a sense of fulfillment of all she has done in her service year and a rewarding future for her and her family.”
Onafeko applauded Obasa for always looking for the best in his human capital development strides in the Lagos Assembly.
The event was attended by Lambo’s friends and family members as well as staff of the House and the commission.
Some of her friends who were on ground to felicitate with her were so elated to say good things about her.
Mrs Tokunbo Eko of Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency LASEPA blaze the trail of pouring encomiums on the celebrant, she described her as an amiable friend, who gentle but down to earth and so kind.
She prayed for a beautiful time after retirement for her friend.
Another friend Mrs Moji Adekunle who was obviously at the gathering to merry, note that she has not much to say than to thank God for an eventful service year which her friend enjoyed.
She added that Ms Lambo knows how well to ease off stress that is why she retained her radiance even at 60.
In her farewell speech at the resplendent and auspicious gathering organized to commemorate her 60th Birthday and Statutory Retirement from the service of the state on Saturday,Lambo commended Mr. Speaker adding that he contributed greatly to her getting to the Zenith of her career.
The outgone secretary, who described Obasa as outstanding in human capacity development, said that the speaker would forever be remembered for his magnanimity and efforts to ensure staffers welfare.
“It is a double celebration for me. In the course of my duty, I have met a lot of people who have brought about positive changes into my life and help me become whatever I am today.
“Number one of these people is the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt-Hon. Mudashiru Obasa who played a pivotal role in getting me to the peak of my career.
“Of course the entire leadership of the Lagos State House of Assembly made my work a success and as such I am indebted to them all.
“Obasa’s leadership and magnanimity is outstanding,” Lambo, former Head of Public Affairs, Lagos Assembly, said.
She appreciated the leadership and support of the LAHASCOM Chairman, Chief Wale Mogaji as well as the Clerk of the House, Mr Olalekan Onafeko, the management and staff of both the House and the commission.
Lambo, who commended friends and family members, said that they had been her pillar of support, especially members of the Lagos State House of Assembly Correspondents Association (LAHACA).
Describing her retirement as a new beginning and journey, Lambo said that it would be a difficult transition because she had been passionate about her career for many years.
“This period, for me marks the beginning of a new era and the opening of other opportunities.
” It will no doubt herald another vista of activities which have been hitherto latent due to constraints of time,” she said.
A live band was on hand to entertain the guests with melodious renditions of Isale Eko blend of music.
