The Lagos State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development and eTranzact have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to curb unregulated development, manage setbacks, and improve the environment.
The MoU will strengthen the partnership between Lagos State Planning and Environmental Monitoring Authority (LASPEMA) and eTranzact, a Fintech firm, to sanitise and regulate Incidental Open Spaces (IOS), as well as ensure physical orderliness.
It will empower eTranzact to collect data of such spaces, deploy integrated technology solution management, as well as the digitalisation of revenue collection processes from informal business owners operating on the setbacks and IOS to enhance Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
The MoU was signed by Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Omotayo Bamgbose-Martins, represented by Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on e-GIS and Planning Matters, Dr. Olajide Babatunde, and Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Oluwole Sotire, for the state, while Managing Director of eTranzact, Niyi Toluwalope, and Group Head (Legal), Ms. Eme Godwin, signed for the company.
General Manager of LASPEMA, Daisi Oso, said the agency was saddled with addressing challenges associated with managing and regulating setbacks to ensure orderliness while leveraging technology.
He said the agency deploys drones for mappings, collaborating with MDAs on urban development to improve security and order in the use of land in tandem with the state’s developmental plans to enhance social and political sustainability of businesses.
