A lawmaker, Hon. Segun Olulade, representing Epe Constituency II in the Lagos State House of Assembly, has sympathized with the Lagos State Deputy Governor-elect, Mr. Obafemi Hamzat over the demise of his father, Oba Olatunji Hamzat.
Olulade, who described the death of Oba Hamzat as unfortunate, noted that the news, came as a rude shock, adding that Monarch joined his ancestors at a time he is mostly needed around.
According to the lawmaker who is in far away Dubai, “no matter how old a parent is, no child will want them to die. I am saying this because I have experienced it.
“Oba Hamzat is a great party man; till his death, he was a committed and loyal chieftain of our party, the All Progressives Congress. You can’t talk about the Justice Forum Caucus and not mention him because he was the leader of the caucus.
“His son, Obafemi Kadri, who is the Deputy Governor-elect of our great State has proven to be a great offspring and I believed that was what earned him the Deputy Governorship ticket.
“It’s just so sad that the monarch has chosen to join his ancestors at this very time when we will need him the most. However, who are we to question the Creator when He says it is time?
“On behalf of myself, my family, and the great people of Epe Constituency II to commiserate with Mr. Obafemi Hamzat and the entire family on this loss. I am also using this medium to pray that the Almighty will grant the departed one an eternal rest.”
It was gathered that Oba Hamzat, who until his death was the Olu of Afowora Sogade, in the Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State, died on Sunday due to an old age-related ailment.
Being a traditional ruler, his death has yet to be made official, but an aide to Mr. Hamzat, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said, the Deputy Governor-elect will likely issue a statement on the demise of his father today (Monday).Lagos Lawmaker, Olulade Commiserate with Hamzat over Father’s Demise
