Honourable Abdul Sobur Olayiwola Olawale, a Lagos State House of Assembly member representing Mushin constituency 2, who slumped and died after the Jos flag off campaign, will be buried today at the Ikoyi vault and Gardens by 1pm.
The lawmaker who was visibly healthy as at Friday 11th November 2022, took active part as a goalkeeper for one of the teams in the novelty match played by members to commemorate Rt.Hon.Mudashiru Obasa’s birthday.
He was until his demise the Chairman of the House Committee on Local Government and Community Relations.
The 58 years old Omititi as he was fondly called by constituents, friends, associates, political loyalists and admirers was born March 12,1964.
Hon.Olayiwola Olawale a native of Abeokuta,Ogun State was said to have slumped at the Rwang Pam stadium venue of the flag- off of the All Progressives Congress (APC)Presidential Campaign from where he was rushed to a nearby hospital and later confirmed dead.
In a statement titled: Sad: We Lost Hon. Abdul-Sobur Olawale, issued by Engr.Setonji David the Chairman Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Information, Strategy and Security, the sudden demise of the lawmaker- Hon Olawale was described as a blow below the belt for the whole house.
He however urged all to pray for the repose of his good soul.
“It is with deep sadness, sense of loss and heavy hearts that we inform you of the death of our colleague and friend, Hon. Abdulsobur Olayiwola Olawale (alias OMITITI) representing Mushin Constituency 02 in the Lagos State House of Assembly, who passed on today.
“Hon. Olawale was until his untimely demise the Chairman House Committee on Local Government and Community Relations, a second term lawmaker left us unexpectedly and threw the whole House into mourning.
“This death really hit us below the belt. We will all miss him more than words can express. We urge you to join us in prayers for his family at this time.”
Sequel his decision to thread the active path in politics,Olawale sometimes at the dawn of the 4th Republic was the Ward Secretary, Alliance for Democracy, Ward G2, Papa Ajao Mushin, Personal Assistant to Honourable Commissioner, Lagos State Ministry of Transport from 2000 – 2003, President, Ganiyu Solomon Campaign Organisation, Mushin LGA in 2002, Youth Coordinator, Afikuyomi Senatorial Ambition, Lagos West in 2002, Special Assistant on Transportation to His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu (Governor Emeritus, Lagos State) 2003 – 2007.
In 2014, he was nominated and won the primary of the All Progressives Congress and was elected as a member to represent Mushin State Constituency 2 at the Lagos State House of Assembly.
He was re-elected in 2019 for another four-year term, he however did not finished the term neither was he able to stage a come back at the APC’s primaries and thus not in the 10th Assembly’s political permutations come 2023 general elections before his sudden demise.
He was survived by his wife and three children.
