The Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) has extended the deadline for filing individual annual tax returns to April 14, 2026.

The extension, announced on Monday, shifts the deadline by two weeks from the statutory March 31 filing date observed each year.

According to LIRS, the decision is aimed at giving taxpayers additional time to complete and submit accurate returns in line with regulatory requirements.

The agency reiterated that filing of annual tax returns remains a mandatory obligation for individuals and urged residents to take advantage of the extended window to comply.

LIRS also maintained that electronic submission through its eTax platform is the only approved method for filing, noting that manual submissions have been phased out.

Taxpayers were further advised to ensure that their Tax Identification Number (TaxID) is correctly provided when submitting returns to avoid processing issues.

The agency warned that failure to meet filing deadlines could attract penalties under existing tax laws.
