…at formal declaration of intention

One of the consistent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chieftain, Otunba Olanrewaju Jim-Kamal has unveiled a five pronged plan to fix Lagos, if elected the next Governor of the state.

Jim-Kamal who berated the clear departure from the essence of good governance in the state, while officially declaring his intention to jostle for the governorship seat, listed the basic things which ought to be accorded attention.

He maintained that the issues of education, health, infrastructure, agriculture, youth and women empowerment need to be urgently tackled to salvage the situation.

According to him once elected he will ensure the provision of automated free and compulsory e- education at all levels, automated free e-healthcare facilities, social security, mechanised food production, sports development, modern transportation system and restructuring.

Jim-Kamal notes that he would substitute the present outdated progressive government in the state with a dynamic one which will in returns bring to the masses dividends of democracy.

“We are out to tell Lagos residents in particular and Nigerians in general the truth and nothing but the truth and then to discuss issues, debate issues and deliver issues through dividends of democracy that have eluded Lagos for sometimes now.

The agile and articulate governorship hopeful said that cardinal to his government will be infrastructural and human capital development to curb most of the ongoing social ills in the society with attendant adverse effect on existing security arrangements .

“Infrastructure without giving these teaming youth free and compulsory education, free health, mass employment for youth, women emancipation, availability of subsidised food to our market women, modern day security network that is devoid of force and mass killing of innocent people will only compromise our security networks.

Commenting on what kind of primaries he would subscribe to, Jim-Kamal maintained that an elective state Congress has led to a more virile PDP in Lagos, so a direct primaries will further boost the political fortune of the party in 2023 general elections.

Jim-Kamal observed further that deliberately toying with the will of the people during past primary elections has been the bane of electoral victory for PDP in previous elections.

He told newsmen that he would not tolerate any consensus arrangement where an aspirant would be made to step down for others or being imposed on other aspirants.

“We have not been winning because Lagos PDP has always promoted imposition but our last elective state congress has brought in the light that we can get it right now.

“The best way to address all these problems is for the party to go for elective primaries in Lagos like we did in the congress. I opted out in 2015 when I discovered somebody was to be imposed on us.

“Now that PDP has come to stay and the chances are brighter, we should not spoil it. Our primaries should be one man one vote. It should be a free and fair direct primaries,” Jim-Kamal said.

According to him, all aspirants should be afforded a level playing field while party members choose whoever they want to fly the party’s ticket.

Speaking further on his already mapped out strategies to make Lagos work again, he listed other drastic moves to be made.

Jim-Kamal said that teachers and school children’s welfare would be a priority, saying that ICT gadgets would be provided in schools for each teacher and students with free feeding.
