The Lagos State government has express confidence over the state of the health care infrastructure blueprint in the state, plegding it’s commitment toward improving them.
The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the Lagos State Commussioner for Health, Prof Akin Abayomi stated this in a documentary released yesterday tagged: Lagos State Medical Infrastructure Transformation.
Sanwo-Olu said that in the last 20 years we have had people in leadership position who understands and appreciate the fact that they are in leadership position to serve and make tomorrow better than they met it today.
He noted that we have 330 Primary Heath Care Centres (PHCs) and 27 secondary healthcare facilities in all the nooks and crannies of the state and we are still developing them. We are making sure that we have to three in every ward. We want to ensure that between three to four kilometers in Lagos, you will find a PHCs.
The governor stated that what United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and World Health Organization (WHO) recommend on a year budgetary allocation which is between 10 to 12% is achieved.
The duo stated that government is embarking on Brownfield (new) and Green field (existing) projects, reduction of the energy use in all the hospitals by over 50 percent to align with global climate change mitigation efforts and connecting all hospitals digitally through the Smart Health Infrastructure Platform (SHIP) initiative which will allow consultation with doctors and specialists outside the country for complicated processes.
Abayomi reiterated that a lot of emphasis has been placed on the environment in which medical personnel work, the equipment they work with, the design of the buildings, relaxation centers.
He added that another innovation is the ART4LIFE concept which focuses on the aesthetics of the buildings using art and colour concepts to promote better welfare and mental wellbeing.
