Ahead of the primaries of the All Progressives Congress a Chieftain of the party Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, who also is an aspirant for the Lagos West Senatorial District has counseled the party’s leadership against imposition of a seemingly anointed candidate.
Obanikoro in his recent statement on the primaries, described as an outright fraudulent act for anyone who might have subverted the process by getting forms through the back door to contest at the election.
He noted that instead of adopting such a frivolous approach, aspirants ought to be allowed to test their popularity on a level playing field.
“As a party man, I am averse to us imposing candidates on other capable ones, we need to allow all test their popularity on a level playing field.
“I cannot just imagine us bringing on someone who had clearly circumvented the process, by getting the forms through the back door and even not partaking in the party’s screening exercise to be in the race.
“I am much aware a plethora of litigation may likely follow this clearly untoward act, which may cost our party greatly in the nearest future.
“I want to urge our National Chairman Alhaji Abdullahi Adamu never to treat this too obvious travesty with kid gloves,” Obanikoro said.
