The Lagos Metropolitan Transport Authority (LAMATA) rolled out the drum to celebrate its 20 years of existence as a special purpose agency that is delivering public sector transportation initiatives of the Lagos State Government.
Addressing select journalists at a press conference which held at its Ketu, Lagos, office the Managing Director Engr Abimbola Akinajo said the agency has delivered the first Bus Rapid Transit in sub-saharan Africa, as part of the states’s first Strategic Transportation Masterplan and has scaled this up with a Bus Reform Initiative which has delivered world class bus shelters and terminals and interchanges, First and Last Mile buses, as well as delivered the Blue Rail line, which according to her had carried over 400,000 passengers since it began commercial operation in September 2023.
