The Lagos State Government said it would close access to the Pen Cinema flyover area at Agege for one week to allow for the completion of work on the flyover.
The closure would take effect from 11am of Wednesday June 17 to June 25, 2020.
Announcing the closure, the Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Frederic Oladeinde stated that the closure was necessary in order to enable the contractors launch beams across Iju road without any interruptions.
He explained that for better management of the traffic situation along the axis during the closure period, alternative routes have been provided for motorists to navigate their ways with ease
Motorists coming from Fagba end of Iju road will be diverted through Ifako General Hospital road and Oyemekun road, to link up College road inward Ogba, while commuters heading to Mosalasi Alhaja, will be diverted to link Ijaiye Housing Estate from Odejobi road. In the same vein, Iju bound motorists will be diverted through Ijaye road inward Ogba and Oba Ogunji road.
In the light of the development, Oladeinde assured that officials of the State’s Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, will be deployed to the diversion points to manage movements, ensure free flow of traffic and enforce strict adherence to the directives issued out. While imploring Motorists to cooperate fully to minimize the expected inconveniences, the commissioner appealed to the residents of the State to bear with the State Government as it works tirelessly to effect efficient multi-modal transportation system for the Smart City Lagos, in accordance with the Babajide Sanwo-Olu led administration.
